ok ..you may think ..damn ..that s a lot of work (or damn that's so easy...but you ll like the following also )... in fact i just did it as a game,as i m reeeaaallly used to pixel work,as lots of people from my generation. As a pixel lover i d like to tell you you my own "pixel history",as i knew it from my first computer to actuals PCs..

well ...in 198X ... i was XX .. my parents buyed a VG5000 philips-schneider for the family-32k-tape driver out - but 2 joysticks ^^.Everyone used it for games but i started reading the book ..and learned how to draw big pictures from redefined characteres.:/

In fact i drawed some pics on millimeter paper, then translated them to points with a fine pen, then cuted them in 8x8 parts, translated in hexadecimal lines, implemented those lines as charXlineY=A0B11701 (8 lines per char) then ploted at the right place on screen with a "locate a,b print char(c)" on a basic program. It was quickly easier to use data lines implemented with a code loop, but that wasn t easier to debug ;)

that was the 1st time..then one day came the new generation ... lol ...

Well .. i spended lot of time workin on the vg5000 comp ,saving my works on tapes ..sometime losing them (i can t even read one of them now..but i stil have the paper works ;) ).

Then someday, after some years of "character art", i get a new generation computer : the new Amstrad cpc 6128 color !

that was like "hooo! we can finaly get 2 differents colors in a 8x8 pixels area ..? niiiccce!!!

then i realized that pixels were .. well ..biger that before ^^

you had to choose 16 colors among 27 , with pixels twice large than high.but it was possible to plot any of the 16 colors in any pixel location (x (0-300) y(0-400)) on screen.

With nice graphism tools ( ocp art studio ) it helped doing some nice 320x200 pieces of graphs^^.Still using the same millimeter paper technic,I still was doing some big pics, given to friends at school only. And ,in this times,i learned a loooot from so nices games as renegade, gryzor or rick dangerous ..games that were often designed on higher resolutions but that looked so goood on lower ones.really that was a nice time for pixel artists.... some should be on a museum ^^

then one day came a new generation again !!! i earned an Atari ST in the lately times (second hand comp :/) but started having a lot of fun with it...starting with deluxe paint and finally used crack art...first program i knew that allowed you to pick a color anywhere on screen ...thats saved a lot of time from going to the palete to select a new one..that was cooool.....again i did lots of graphs ..trying to learn how to keep any paper work quality to a pixelized version.

Also I met demo scene people ,crazy but antousiast coders, the first i knew ;) We could have made games but we were too busy doing other stuffs (as studies or parties) and maybe we were too young too ^^

I still have some graph from this times (same floppy disk and nice software ;) ) and you can see them there.

1st time i saw a Pc ,i thought."how funnny, you have to buy it piece by piece ^^" then i saw 3ds and thought "damn that's the end of graphists!!"(i saw a coder make a nice team logo in 3 min..that ruined your mind)

If you can read some Amstrad cpc floppy disk or vg5000 tape then you may be my(insane?) friend ^^
